  • hopefully my guild will start doing 25 mans more regularly, but we shall see. i've got about as much gear as 10 mans can offer me except a t7 headpiece. who knows, I may end up switching to fire/ttw since we're getting our talent points refunded today anyway (as soon as my friggin realm comes back up!). thats, collectively, not a lot, but still more than i'm overly comfortable with. If i were to go Fire/TTW then I'd be 2% short (as there is an SPriest in my guild). technically i could cut it down some since i am a draenei, but I have the extra to cover for when i switch to FFB). In my gear i only have 281 HR (which is just under 11%. Fire/TTW is far more consistant in this regard. Some fights I rape the charts but then the next week the RNG will hit me hard and I end up way down. I always feel I never have enough crit for FFB. I'm still on the look out for more Hit gear but I think I've got most of what 10man content can offer me. and i don't have the gear for fire/TTW yet (the ton of hit rating) I'll continue to keep FFB as my alt spec, even if i can't abuse the focus magic swap anymore, because for some fights, i just come out better on it. So the difference in DPS, is circumstantial as much as it is anything else. Arcane is overall better for "run and gun" fights like Grob, Saph, 4 Horsemen, etc, especially cause of the emphasis on haste, and the short cast time of your main spell. I also did really ridiculously high DPS on Thaddius with FFB spec when compared to my last run using Arcane.Īs i've stated (and many others have as well). Crit does more for FFB than Arcane, so it fit for that circumstance. Granted, it was on Loathieb where my crit rating was beyond retarded levels, but still. I rocked my first 5k dps with a 10 man group using frostfire spec. I also think the fact that FFB is "lowest" is pretty circumstantial. just nip the last second or two of your IV for an evocation, and you'll get 0 reduction from your evocate thru the whole thing. That's true, but that is easily manageable with a well time Icy Veins. However, that's OT and as I said, I'm BAD at PvP so it's mostly likely lack of skills.

It's very hard to get a Shatter Combo on a Ret Paladin or Feral Druid. I'm shockingly bad at PvP these days but to a certain extent I also feel that against come classes Frost has even lost some of it's spark in PvP (World and BG - Arenas are another story). While I love Fire, I do miss the Molten Core days when Frost was decent for Raiding. It's often easy to get blinded by the graphs showing FFB low on the charts but the actual difference in DPS between the specs isn't actually that high. 1500 dps IS something to complain about :( Unfortunately, the only real "no no" by comparison is speccing frost.Īrcane, Fireball, and Frostfire bolt each might be best on a particular fight, but it's actually to the point where the difference hasn't been enough to make me feel gimp playing any of them.įrost.yeah, another story. Missing maybe 2 pieces of gear can break the set and change your spec priorities. Tell me how many fights you'll just stand there and spam nuke the same target for 6 minutes without moving, without any changes in the "boss/'dagron'" (intentional typo <3 strongbad).Ģ00 dps at the very top end isn't something to freak out about.

The spreadsheets are also misleading to some extent. Invisibilty is great but as with Evocation there are some boss fights where it can't be used to it's fullest (Saph Frost Aura). True, I prefer nuking without threat issues.

I'd rather nuke the hell out of a boss and not pull aggro then have to worry about gimmick aggro drops on every fight. I feel that mana management is easier than threat management. (And 10% of frostfire's threat reduction ONLY works on FFB. Arcane has 40%, Frost fire has 20%, and Fire/TTW has only 10% threat reduction talented in. but it has a much lower threat reduction built in than arcane does. True, FFB is much easier to manage mana-wise than arcane.
